WASHINGTON – Two top Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee today asked the Government Accountability Office for details on the Department of Commerce’s systems to protect against the transfer of technology to foreign nationals that could be used to harm America.
U.S. Reps. Joe Barton, R-Texas, ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and John Shimkus, R-Ill., ranking member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, asked Gene Dodaro, the acting GAO comptroller general for an updated review of the Commerce Department’s implementation of the current rules to ensure that U.S. national security interests are being addressed.
