Rep Ellen Tauscher Comments on POGO Report Detailing Nuclear Clean-Up at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Washington, DC – Rep. Ellen Tauscher, Chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee of The House Armed Services Committee released the following statement on the Project on Government Oversight’s recent report entitled U.S. Nuclear Weapons Complex: Livermore Homes and Plutonium Make Bad Neighbors. “Public concern over the storage of sensitive nuclear materials is a good thing and I commend POGO for its vigilance. I have repeatedly stressed the need for consolidated and comprehensive stewardship throughout our nation’s entire nuclear complex and I am glad that POGO agrees. “At this point I am pleased with the commitment NNSA and Livermore Lab have made to removing all nuclear materials from the lab by 2010. I have requested additional federal funding to accelerate this process and look forward to complete compliance.” Rep. Ellen Tauscher
