Maryland Large-Scale Digital Orthophoto Data for The National Map

Award number 05HQAG0135, Category 4: Geographic Information Integration

This project builds on the successful work of the 2004 NSDI CAP project, “Maryland Centerline Data for The National Map.”  The Towson University Center for Geographic Information Sciences (CGIS) will work with the Maryland State Geographic Information Committee (MSGIC), the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Howard County, and the Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC) to incorporate recent large-scale digital orthophotography into The National Map. The geographic area of interest includes Worcester,  Somerset, and Howard counties in the State of Maryland. A large part of this effort will include addressing policy barriers that often stand in the way of data sharing. These include data licensing, security, and cost recovery policies.
