The National Map with Indigenous Geographic Names

Award number 05HQAG0124, Category 4: Geographic Information Integration

The scope of this project is to provide the National Map with Indigenous Geographic Names that are significant to the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and other Tribes in the United States to establish a “Rural Map for America”.  This will allow the user of the National Map to display the Indigenous names on the map, as well as click on the location and bring up information about selected sites. Potential Information that could be included about the site are: a narrative history of the site, digital photos, streaming videos, and streaming sound. We believe this will give the National Map added diversity, by providing information of native peoples to entities across the United States.
