Health Care |
Health care in the United States is facing dual crises: more than 47 million Americans lack access to health insurance, and soaring health care costs are a burden on families, employers and the federal government. Our nation spends nearly 15 percent of GDP on health care, yet our system leaves too many people behind. I strongly believe in covering all uninsured children through the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), in making sure the Medicare safety net is providing access to quality care for our seniors, and in helping small businesses provide health insurance to their workers. At the same time, I am working on solutions to bring down the cost of health care – like encouraging more preventive care and chronic disease management, and implementing comprehensive electronic medical record systems.
