  • Gold Star Family License Plates
    On September 26, 2008 Governor Schwarzenegger signed SB 1455 – the Gold Star Family License Plate bill – authored by Senator Dave Cogdill (Modesto). This bill authorizes the California Department of Veterans Affairs to sponsor a Gold Star Family specialized license plate program and waives the 7,500 minimum applications requirement and authorizes the department to raise money to cover the start-up and design costs for the new plates. This bill authorizes a family member of someone killed while serving on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United State to apply for a special license plate with a design containing a Gold Star and the words "Gold Star Family."   • National Resource Directory for Servicemembers and Veterans
    The National Resource Directory is a web-based “yellow book” for wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans, their families and those who support them is now available through the following link: www.nationalresourcedirectory.org. The Directory, developed by the US departments of Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs provides more than 10,000 services and resources available through governmental and non-governmental organizations to support recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
