John Mckechnie III

John J. McKechnie III was appointed National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Director of Public and Congressional Affairs in January 2006.

McKechnie joined NCUA with an extensive governmental and legislative affairs background within the credit union industry, on Capitol Hill and in the political arena.

Prior to joining NCUA, McKechnie served as chief lobbyist for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the country’s largest credit union trade association, where he spent 18 years as an advocate for credit unions.

Before joining CUNA, McKechnie was a legislative and press assistant for Representative Stan Parris of Virginia.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland.
