Greetings!

My name is Gail Price and I am excited to be serving as the moderator
of the now fully moderated Family Literacy discussion list. I have
been employed by the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) in
Louisville, Kentucky, for just a little over nine years and have
worked the last six years in the Multimedia Department as a writer
and editor. I have been closely involved with the design and
development of NCFL training materials and have provided editorial
support to almost all the publications NCFL has developed in the past
few years. Because of this work, I have had broad exposure to all
aspects of family literacy—the four components, recruitment and
retention, component integration, advocacy, funding and research. In
addition, I also have been employed by Jefferson County Public
Schools Adult Education since 1998, teaching reading, writing and
mathematics to adult ABE- through GED-level students.

I would like to encourage you to post questions, issues, and
concerns and to share information through this discussion list. There
are many critical areas affecting disadvantaged families and those
who serve them, and I believe this discussion list can be a
tremendous resource to us all. Please encourage any of your
colleagues who are not yet subscribers to join us. They may subscribe
