America’s roads and highways, airports, rails, and canals are in grave need of repair, and nowhere is the situation more serious than in the Chicago metropolitan area. From I-55, I-355 and the Des Plaines bridge, to O’Hare Airport and Metra rail, the transportation infrastructure of Illinois’ 13th Congressional district is our economic bloodline and simply too critical to neglect. And, frankly, we’re not.
I've help secure $12.828 million for 13th District transportation projects in H.R. 3, the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users of 2005 (SAFETEA-LU). Around $4.4 million out of the $12.828 million went toward the I–55 widening and interchange construction project. H.R. 3 was signed into law on August 10, 2005 – Public Law No: 109-59. Whether it is our planes, trains or automobiles, I will continue to make every effort to ensure that our district and the entire region receives the federal transportation dollars necessary to adjust with a rapidly growing population and to prevent our transportation infrastructure from bursting at the seams.
