Eastern Professional Hockey League Announces Brooklyn & Danbury Suspensions & Fines
(Suspensions & Fines from the November 29th game in Danbury)
 
(Little River, SC) The Eastern Professional Hockey League Office today handed down suspensions and fines to members of both the Brooklyn Aces and Danbury Mad Hatters organizations as a result of a multi-player altercation which took place during the third period of last Saturday’s game (November 29th) in Danbury, Connecticut.
 
EPHL Commissioner Jim Riggs has announced that both organizations have been notified of the penalties which have been assessed and both teams have chosen to appeal the suspensions and fines. Once the appeal process has been completed, the final list of suspensions and fines will be released with the names of the personnel involved.
 
The Brooklyn Aces play their next game at Jersey on Saturday night (12/6) while the Danbury Mad Hatters host the Hudson Valley Bears on Saturday.

Eastern Professional Hockey League Notebook #5
(December begins with three games this week)
 
The Eastern Professional Hockey League heads into its sixth weekend of play with three games on the schedule. It will be the last three game week of the season as things will then start to pick up as the schedule heads towards Christmas and New Years. The Jersey Rockhoppers will be home for two of the games on Friday & Saturday while the Danbury Mad Hatters are the other host team on Saturday night.
 
Last Week in Review
The Thanksgiving week saw the first place Brooklyn Aces extend their current winning streak to six games with victories over both Hudson Valley and Danbury. Saturday night’s 3-2 win at Danbury was the EPHL’s first shootout action. The Mad Hatters earned three out of four points in the standings with a Wednesday night win against Jersey to go along with the shootout loss with Brooklyn. Jersey went 1-1 on the week while Hudson Valley came up short in two games against the Aces & Rockhoppers.

EPHL Player of the Week
Kyle Bozoian of the Jersey Rockhoppers is the Eastern Professional Hockey League Player of the Week. The 6’-2”, 205 lbs forward from St. Louis, Missouri scored two goals and added two assists for four points in the Rockhoppers two games last week. Bozoian is currently tied for fourth in scoring in the EPHL with 5 goals & 7 assists: 12 points. Kyle played college hockey at SUNY-Fredonia.
 
EPHL Goaltender of the Week
The Danbury Mad Hatters Derek MacIntyre is the Eastern Professional Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. MacIntyre stopped eighty one of eighty four shots on goal in two games last week; defeating Jersey 2-1 on 11/26 and losing in shootout 3-2 to Brooklyn on 11/29. In the shootout loss against the Aces, he stopped 54 of 56 shots. The Stanwood, Michigan native (population 204) is 2-2-1 on the season with a 3.58 goals against average and an 89.9% save percentage. Derek is a former draft choice for the NHL San Jose Sharks who played college hockey at FerrisState..
 
EPHL Notes
The Danbury Mad Hatters have scheduled a “Teddy Bear Toss” for this coming Saturday night (12/6) when they, ironically, host the Hudson Valley Bears. The Mad Hatters will be assisted by the Danbury Fraternal Order of Police. All bears collected after the toss will be distributed to less fortunate children in the Danbury area. Mad Hatter fans are encouraged to bring at least one teddy bear to the game and when the Mad Hatters score their first goal all fans can toss their bears on the ice where they will be collected for distribution to a local children’s charity…..Speaking of the Danbury Mad Hatters, the “extra curricular” activities, which took place during the third period of last Saturday’s game with the Brooklyn Aces, are currently under review by the EPHL League Office which expects to make a ruling either late Tuesday or on Wednesday…..Brooklyn’s James Brannigan continues to lead the EPHL in scoring (21points) and in goals (15)…..the Aces Kyle McCullough leads in assists with 12…..Eddie Neville of Brooklyn remains the top goaltender with a record of 4-1 and a 2.07 goals against average and a 94.1% save percentage…..the other team leaders in scoring are: Chris Seifert (Hudson Valley) with 5 goals-7 assists-12 points (in only four games played), Kyle Bozoian & Drew Sanders (Jersey) with 5 goals- 7 assists- 12 points, and Igor Karlov (Danbury) with 3 goals- 7 assists- 10 points.

* Brooklyn features the top three scorers in the EPHL in James Brannigan, Kyle McCullough, and CJ Tozzo who have combined for 26 goals. The Aces also have five of the league’s top six scorers.
* Danbury is led in scoring by Igor Karlov who has tallied 2 goals & 6 assists: 8 pts.

(Happy Thanksgiving from the Eastern Professional Hockey League)
 
The Thanksgiving Week in the EPHL features games on Wednesday and Saturday night as the Danbury Mad Hatters finally return home to the Danbury Arena with games on both nights. The Mad Hatters have been on the road since November 8th. The Hudson Valley Bears play their second home game in Newburgh on Wednesday night and the Jersey Rockhoppers round out the home games on Saturday evening hosting the Bears. Both the Mad Hatters and Bears will be looking to end winless streaks. Danbury is currently on a two game winless streak while HudsonValley is winless in their last four contests.
 
Last Week in Review
On the other side of the standings ledger, the first place Brooklyn Aces (6-1-0) continue to roll along having won four in a row following victories over Jersey & Hudson Valley last week. The Jersey Rockhoppers (3-2-0) are in second place and are riding a one game winning streak after defeating Danbury 4-2 last Saturday night.

EPHL Player of the Week
Brooklyn Aces forward Kyle McCullough has been named the Eastern Professional Hockey League Player of the Week. The twenty-five year old native of Danvers, Massachusetts tallied eight points in two games last week for the Aces. Last Friday night (11/21) vs. Hudson Valley, Kyle scored a hat trick (including the game winning goal) and added an assist in the Aces 8-2 win over Jersey. Then on Saturday night, he scored a goal and three assists against Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie. McCullough is second in scoring in the EPHL with 6 goals & 11 assists good for 17 points. He played college hockey at U-Mass Dartmouth and split time last season with Bloomington (IHL) and New Mexico (CHL).
 
EPHL Goaltender of the Week
In the National Hockey League, the top goaltender wins the Vezina Trophy at the end of the year. If things keep going as they have been, the EPHL may need to look at naming its goaltender award the “Neville” Trophy. For the third time in four weeks, Eddie Neville of Brooklyn is the Eastern Professional Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. Neville improved his record to 3-1 by stopping 39 of 41 shots against the Jersey Rockhoppers last Friday. The Aces twine-tender leads the EPHL with a 2.26 goals against average and 94.1% save percentage.

The Danbury Mad Hatters have announced a “Guaranteed Win Night” for Wednesday 11/26. If the Mad Hatters lose, all fans in attendance can exchange their ticket stub for one free ticket for the Mad Hats Thursday 12/11 home game. If Danbury wins on “Guaranteed Win Night”, everyone in attendance will receive a coupon for a free hot dog which can be redeemed at any Mad Hatters home game…..Wednesday night’s Hudson Valley Bears home game will be played in Newburgh, New York at the Ice Time Sports Complex.
