HERSETH SANDLIN ANNOUNCES $44,000 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT FOR LOWER BRULE SIOUX TRIBE December 9, 2008-Washington, DC-Today, Rep. Herseth Sandlin announced that the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe is the recipient of an American Indian/Alaska Native Economic Development District Planning Grant in the amount of $44,000. This funding will assist the tribe in establishing an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region. “Investment in economic development is essential to improving the quality of life on reservations in South Dakota. With this funding, the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe will better be able to create jobs and implement a viable economic development strategy for the future.” The Economic Development District Planning program is administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA). ###
