HERSETH SANDLIN ANNOUNCES $52,000 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT FOR FIRST DISTRICT ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS December 9, 2008-Washington, DC-Today, Rep. Herseth Sandlin announced that the First District Association of Local Governments is the recipient of an Economic Development District Planning Grant in the amount of $52,000. This funding will assist the First District Association of Local Governments in establishing an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region which includes Brookings, Clark, Codington, Deuel, Grant, Hamlin, Kingsbury, Lake, Miner, Moody, and Roberts counties. “The area served by First District Association of Local Governments is well-positioned to make great economic strides in the coming years. With this funding, communities in the eastern part of the state will have more resources available to help them meet their economic development goals,” Rep. Herseth Sandlin said. The Economic Development District Planning program is administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA). ###
