Immediate Release Contact: Betsy Hart HERSETH SANDLIN ANNOUNCES $174,398 EMERGENCY RESPONSE GRANT FOR CHEYENNE RIVER SIOUX TRIBE September 18th, 2008, Washington, DC-Today, Rep. Herseth Sandlin announced that the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe is the recipient of an Edward Byrne Memorial grant in the amount of $174,398. This funding will assist the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in their efforts to enhance 9-1-1 services on the reservation and surrounding areas. “The Cheyenne River Reservation is one of the largest reservations in the state covering nearly four million square miles,” Rep. Herseth Sandlin said. “In an area this large, these funds will go a long way in improving emergency response technology and ultimately saving lives.” The Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance. ### Congresswoman
