HERSETH SANDLIN ANNOUNCES $4M RUNWAY REHABILITATION GRANT FOR JOE FOSS FIELD September 11th, 2008, Washington, DC-Today, Rep. Herseth Sandlin announced that the Sioux Falls Regional Airport Authority is the recipient of a $4,017,620 U.S. Department of Transportation grant. This funding will be used for the first phase of construction in rehabilitating the runway at Joe Foss Field, which services both the Sioux Falls Regional Airport and the South Dakota Air National Guard. “Maintaining our transportation infrastructure is key for South Dakota to continue playing an increasingly important role in the national and global economy,” Rep. Herseth Sandlin said. “By providing resources necessary to maintain an essential component of air transport in and out of South Dakota, this grant will ensure that Sioux Falls continues to grow, both as a destination and a center of commerce. It will also help ensure the long-term viability of the Air National Guard’s 114th Fighter Wing, which is a critical component of our national defense.” ###
