HERSETH SANDLIN INTRODUCES TED HAMILTON OF PORCUPINE AT HOUSE EDUCATION AND LABOR SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING September 9th, 2008, Washington, D.C.-Today, at a hearing of the House Education and Labor Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee, Rep. Herseth Sandlin introduced Ted Hamilton, Executive Director of the Oceti Sakowin Education Consortium in Kyle, SD. Hamilton, along with four other witnesses from various government agencies and educational consortiums, testified before the committee at the hearing entitled "Challenges Facing Bureau of Indian Education Schools in Improving Student Achievement.” In introducing Mr. Hamilton, Rep. Herseth Sandlin said, “Through his work with schools eager to develop an alternative adequate yearly progress standard, Mr. Hamilton has become intimately familiar with the impacts of No Child Left Behind in Bureau of Indian Education schools.
