Herseth Sandlin released the following statement: "With a natural abundance of wind, South Dakota stands ready, willing and able to be a significant contributor to and beneficiary of a new energy economy that lessens our dependence on foreign oil and enhances our national security. I commend Mr. Pickens for recognizing the urgency of expanding wind energy production, as well as his work to raise awareness of these issues; including the undeniable role rural America has in harnessing this wind power and providing the rest of the country with a steady supply of domestic, renewable energy.” ### Congresswoman
Stephanie Herseth Sandlin serves South Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives.
She is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of moderate Democrats
committed to fiscal discipline and strong national security, and is
co-chair of the Rural Working Group, which is dedicated to raising the
profile of issues important to rural America. She also serves on three
committees vital to South Dakota’s interests: Agriculture, Veterans’
