from Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin **PHOTO RELEASE** HERSETH SANDLIN MEETS WITH SOUTH DAKOTA DELEGATES TO NATIONAL 4-H CONFERENCE Washington, DC- Rep. Herseth Sandlin recently met with South Dakota Delegates to the National 4-H Conference in Washington, DC. The National 4-H Conference is sponsored by the Secretary of Agriculture to encourage youth to formulate recommendations for the 4-H Youth Development Program both nationally and in their home communities. This year’s conference theme was “Green Aid” and the delegates learned ways to increase their environmental awareness. During their meeting with Rep. Herseth Sandlin, the students discussed alternative energies like wind and solar power, local recycling programs, and other initiatives aimed at helping local 4-H clubs become more environmentally conscious. Delegates to the national conference are chosen by their local 4-H chapters. The conference brings together youth, volunteer leaders, and state and county Extension staff members from across the United States, the U.S. Territories, and the Canadian Provinces.
