from Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin REP. HERSETH SANDLIN STATEMENT ON HOUSE ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE January 24, 2008, Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin released the following statement today in response to the announcement that House leadership had come to a bipartisan agreement regarding the details of a stimulus package to jumpstart the economy: "While I will withhold final judgment until I see the completed legislation, I am pleased that House leadership was able to work quickly and work together in a bipartisan fashion along with the President to craft a streamlined economic stimulus package for the American people. This initial House version does a good job of meeting the standards set out by many economists: timely, temporary and targeted. And it is also good news that the package isn't loaded up with extraneous or non-stimulative projects. "As this legislation works its way through Congress, I hope it remains unburdened by costly, unnecessary provisions so its benefits will reach the families and businesses for whom it was intended and ultimately give our economy the boost it needs." ###
