U.S. Representative Judy Biggert will join local community leaders and housing specialists to discuss recent foreclosure and homeownership trends in DuPage County, as well as federal and local resources available to assist area residents with their housing needs.

WHY:
From 2005 to 2007, the number of foreclosures reported in DuPage County increased by over 105%, and the number of foreclosures predicted nationwide during the coming year is now approaching 3 million. In order to address this problem, many local communities have increased their efforts to help keep families in their homes by providing housing assistance and mortgage counseling services. At Friday’s briefing, DuPage County service providers and officials will meet with U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert to discuss challenges facing local homeowners and potential solutions that can be advanced locally and through the newly-convened 111th Congress.
