CLEARWATER CLEAN COAL CONFERENCE

MISSION STATEMENT FOR THE CLEARWATER CLEAN COAL CONFERENCE

Increased demand – coupled with energy security issues, uncertainty and skyrocketing prices in the oil sector, along with tightening environmental regulations – make this conference a must for those involved in all aspects of power generation who must meet the competitive pressures and environmental concerns of coal utilization in the 21st century.

The Clearwater Clean Coal Conference program covers innovative and evolving technologies in a forum that encourages the exchange of information on power generation and policy issues. The State-of-the-Art in coal utilization will be presented in up-to-date technical papers, tutorials, panels and plenary sessions, covering cutting-edge developments on a range of timely topics.  Click here for a downloadable copy of the Call for Papers 2009 Call for Papers.pdf

Over 300 professionals representing nearly all the major players in the electric utility industry in the United States were in Clearwater, Florida, USA for the 33rd  International Technical Conference on Coal Utilization & Fuel Systems (informally known as “the Clearwater Coal Conference”) that took place June 1 – 5, 2008.  Plans are now underway for the 34th International Technical Conference on Clean Coal Utilization & Fuel Systems that will take place May 31 - June 4, 2009.  12 Tutorials, 10 Panels and 25 Technical Sessions will be offered.  The presentations dealt with technical solutions to problems; specific strategies; projects; innovations; industry trends; and or/regulatory compliance. The program presents an extensive overview of emerging, evolving, and innovative technologies, fuels and/or equipment in the power generation industry.  The Keynote Address:  The World’s Energy and Environmental Challenges will be delivered by Dr. John C. For over thirty three years, this annual international event - informally known as the Clearwater Clean Coal Conference - has drawn attendees from around the globe to Clearwater, Florida, U.S.A., where the conference has been held since 1989. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the U.S. Department of Energy and the Coal Technology Association, in cooperation with the National Energy Technology Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy are the conference sponsors.

The Conference Committee is seeking papers from all countries worldwide that will deal with technical solutions to problems; specific strategies; projects; innovations; industry trends; and/or regulatory compliance.  Our goal is to present an extensive overview of emerging, evolving, and innovative technologies, fuels and/or equipment in the power generation industry, through the presentation of accomplishments, opportunities and challenges.

The Clearwater Clean Coal Conference offers participants opportunities to learn about state-of-art and cutting-edge technologies in 150 technical presentations in four days (Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in five concurrent sessions and the tutorials and/or panels on Sunday and Monday). Buffet luncheons, a Welcome Party in the Exhibit Center, a themed luncheon, and a fabulous beach reception on Tuesday night offer networking opportunities with 300 conference participants. Intensive tutorials are held on Sunday and Monday.

A new feature started at the 2008 conference were the themed luncheon on Wednesday. The leading experts will host individual tables where discussions on the topics of the day will be held.
