The Ares Projects integration team and Ares Projects managers and engineers met with more than 1 million people at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on June 25-29 and July 2-6. The festival is a NASA 50th Anniversary event and featured the Ares exhibit and NASA's exploration plans. The NASA presence included living presentations, hands-on activities, exhibits, and more from across the agency. Ares team members discussed the project, from schedule to details of the vehicle architecture, and answered questions from the general public on all aspects of the Ares mission. Through these face-to-face interactions with hundreds of thousands of the festivals’ attendees, the Ares team's dedicated outreach efforts are increasing public knowledge of the nation's space program.
