Ross, Lincoln, Pryor Announce $1 Million for Texarkana Airport

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Mike Ross (AR-04) along with U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor today announced that the Texarkana Airport Authority will receive a $1 million grant from the Department of Transportation to help construct an aircraft rescue and fire fighting building at Texarkana Regional Airport - Webb Field.

“Investing in our in our infrastructure not only helps create jobs, but also provides a boost to the local economy,” said Ross.  “I am proud to help announce these funds for Texarkana because enhancing the safety at our local airports is a great example of how federal dollars should be spent – creating jobs and making our communities stronger.”

“I’m pleased to see Arkansas receive these federal dollars, which will allow Texarkana Regional Airport to upgrade their safety and rescue equipment,” said Lincoln. “I remain committed to ensuring that our state receives the funding and resources it needs to stay secure while also supporting local economic development.”

“The recent emergency landing on the Hudson River is just another reminder of the critical importance of airline safety preparations,” said Pryor.  “These funds are a good example of how federal dollars can be reinvested into the local community in order to keep Texarkana residents safe and create new jobs.”
