Winter Time Parking Regulations The coming of winter not only brings colder weather, it also brings some additional restrictions on parking in the City. Between the dates of November 1st and April 1st, from 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., no person may park or leave standing any vehicle on any street or highway in the City; except temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in receiving or discharging passengers. In addition the amount of snow received or the time at which the snow is received may make it necessary for the Chief of Police to declare a snow emergency. If a snow emergency is declared, notice will be given to the news media. During a snow emergency no person shall park or leave standing any vehicle upon any street or highway in the City, from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.; except parking is allowed on the even-numbered side of the street or highway on an even-numbered calendar day, and on the odd-numbered side of a street or highway on an odd-numbered calendar day. Other parking limitations and restrictions may also apply. Please help to keep our roads clear and safe by following these rules. Kenneth W. Muelling - Chief of Police Water/Sewer Utility Newsletter-Dec 2008 Meetings Scheduled January 19th - January 23rd, 2009 Tuesday, January 19th
Gun Safety Gun safety, especially when involving children, is very important the members of the Mosinee Police Department. Because of this the members of the Mosinee Police Department participate in two projects that help to protect children. First, the Mosinee Police Department has free gun locks available; provided through Project Child Safe program. Project Child Safe is a nationwide program whose purpose is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices through the distribution of free gun locks. The Mosinee Police Department currently has over 200 gun locks available. They can be picked up at the Mosinee City Hall during normal office hours and are available to any Mosinee resident. Second, the Mosinee Police Department presents the Eddie Eagle Gun Safe Program to all Mosinee kindergarten through third grade students. The program and materials are provided by the National Rifle Association. The theme of the program is to teach children if they see a gun they are to: Stop!, Don’t Touch, Leave the area, and Tell an adult. Please make sure all guns are stored safely and securely. The leaving or storing of a loaded firearm within the reach or easy access of a person who has not attained the age of 14 years is prohibited by law. Please help keep our children safe. Kenneth W. Muelling - Chief of Police Wisconsin River Bridge Project
Currently the Wisconsin River bridges are open to one lane in each direction. Each lane is restricted to 10 feet. Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures and flagging operations weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. Some flagging operations may also be necessary on Saturdays before 10 a.m. Crews are widening both structures and adding a multi-use path. Construction is scheduled for completion by late July 2010. Due to safety concerns, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has advised the City that access for biking and pedestrian traffic on the Wisconsin River Bridge is closed and biking/pedestrian access will remain closed until the anticipated completion of the bridge reconstruction project in July 2010. Updated information pertaining to the Wisconsin River Bridge Reconstruction Project will be available on the City of Mosinee’s web site: www.mosinee.wi.us throughout the construction project. The proposed round-a-bout for the intersection of State Hwy 153 and Old Hwy 51 is not part of this project. It is anticipated that this project will not begin until 2010. If you have any questions or need any additional information pertaining to the Wisconsin River Bridge reconstruction project, please do not hesitate to contact Mosinee City Administrator Jeff Gates at 693-2275 or at cityadmn@mosinee.wi.us.
