Learning for Community Empowerment Programme (LCEP-2)



Learning for Community Empowerment aims to contribute to a sustainable process of lifelong learning for rural and urban communities in Afghanistan. Careful integration of core elements of literacy and productive skills, savings and credit concepts, and business development skills training is key to the concept and approach of LCEP which will bring literacy and economic promotion to the communities.




>From a pedagogical standpoint, LCEP-2 will deliver a learning package predicated on the needs of Afghanistan’s youth and adults; one that conveys practical livelihood and life skills while building critical reading, writing and numeracy abilities. LCEP-2 will include 300,000 learners in 3,000 + communities of 18 provinces over 5 years. At minimum, sixty percent of the total participants will be women.




Roles and Responsibilities

The Material and Training Development Advisor will provide overall technical expertise in the area of adult learning. S/he will have significant experience in all aspects of materials development and training for adult learners. The advisor will have two primary responsibilities. First, s/he is charged with building the capacity of the Ministry of Education’s Materials and Training functions. Second, s/he will initially guide and coordinate the materials development and training functions of the National Literacy Center, gradually transferring responsibility for these functions to his local counterparts. S/he will be the primarily responsible to ensure that materials for the literacy classes are prepared and available in a timely manner.



Qualifications

The Applicant should have preferably a doctorate in Education/Literacy Education or Development or a related field with 8 years experience in adult literacy education with specific experience in curriculum, material development and training design or a Masters Degree with 12 years experience in the above mentioned fields.
