I know it is about 19% in Kentucky and you can look on the Council for Postsecondary Education webpage for articles and details--I believe they have national statistics as well. (just google Kentucky CPE). THe "Double the Numbers" report will give you some good data. This section of the wiki contains an area where students can try out their online skills by posting their comments in a forum or by reviewing computer programs (as part of an online survey). The page has directions for how to add and edit text, so that learners and/or their teachers can become familiar with the process of participating in a wiki. The forum has yet to be used, so your learners could be the first! It would be great for a class working on their computer skills. The Learner Perspective section also has links to publications that contain student writing and links to some mp3s (which have learners telling their own stories). This section also has a place where programs or publications can post calls for student writing (such as the recent call for Women's Perspectives #3 (2008) / Women & Money). The address for this section is http://wiki.literacytent.org/index.php/Learner_Perspectives.
