In an effort to ensure that the Pacific Southwest Region continues to fulfill its mission of achieving quality land management while being inclusive of all communities in meeting the needs of our diverse public, the Region expanded the current Central California Consortium in 2006 forming the California Consortium program. The new offices are strategically located in Northern and Southern California to complement existing services in Central California.

The Northern California Consortium is attached to the Mendocino National Forest in Willows and serves the communities adjacent to the Klamath, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta-Trinity, Six Rivers and Tahoe National Forests. The Northern California Consortium geographic focus at this time is Yuba City, Marysville and Chico area; with further expansion to Willows, Williams, Gridley, Colusa, and Oroville.

California Consortium Mission Areas:
  • Establish trust and strengthen relationships with Hispanic and other diverse communities;
  • Increase awareness of opportunities provided by public lands through environmental education;
  • Provide programs to develop employment opportunities in natural resource management for members of Hispanic and other diverse communities; and
  • Contribute to the Regional Outreach and Recruitment Plan goals by providing job placement opportunities for program participants from the Hispanic and other diverse communities with the Forest Service and other land management agencies and organizations.
