Rep. John Hall Sworn in to 111th Congress
Friday, January 9, 2009
Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. John Hall (D-NY19) was sworn into the 111th Congress on Tuesday, January 6, by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This is Hall's second term in Congress.

Congressman Hall has been appointed to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and has requested to continue serving on the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs and the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. Hall served on these committees during his first term in Congress and requested to be reappointed so he can continue serving veterans, work to increase investment in public infrastructure to create jobs, and to address the problems of strengthening energy independence and combating global warming.

"I will be working to ensure that any economic recovery efforts include investments in the Hudson Valley, putting New Yorkers back to work in jobs that cannot be outsourced," Hall added.

"Serving on the Veterans' Affairs Committee is the best way for me to be the voice of Hudson Valley veterans in Congress and pass legislation that ensures the government is fulfilling our nation's promise to veterans," said Hall.

Last term, Hall helped Hudson Valley veterans obtain over $750,000 in payments held up in red tape by the VA. As Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs, Hall wrote and passed into law landmark legislation to reform the VA's disability claims processing system.
