Internet Based Transaction Pilots

Wisconsin Physician Service (WPS)

WPS is conducting a pilot project to allow a select number of providers in the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota to access Medicare eligibility and claims status information via the Internet. In addition to eligibility and claim status information, the pilot application also contains Provider Registration and Customer Service Components. The pilot does not however, include Medicare claims submissions.
The pilot has been in production since August 2003. It receives over 500,000 eligibility requests and 100,000 claims status requests per month.

National Heritage Insurance Company (NHIC)

NHIC has developed a pilot that allows providers to access Medicare claims-based transactions via a web-enabled application. The pilot allows a select number of rendering providers from the states of California, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont to access eligibility, claims status, summary data, accounts receivable and enrollment information via the Internet. Providers also have the ability to print standard paper remittance notices through the application.

The pilot has been in production since April 2005 and receives over 28,000 eligibility requests and 5,000 claims status requests per month.
