About UsThe Congressional Caucus on Ethiopia and Ethiopian-Americans works to strengthen the relationship between the United States and Ethiopia and is a legislative voice for Ethiopian-Americans across the United States. The caucus serves the Ethiopian-American community as it continues to grow in population and influence, and supports the community’s interests both here and in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian-American community is the largest African immigrant community in the United States. This community is represented in various branches of government, corporations and the hi-tech industry. This community also has many successful entrepreneurs and business people. Ethiopia is quickly becoming one of Africa’s most populous countries at the heart of the Horn of Africa. Ethiopia will be an important center of industry, agriculture, and technology in a short period of time. Working together, both countries can fight the AIDS epidemic, human rights abuses, the global coffee crisis, and famine. The future looks extremely bright for bilateral relations: the country has a multitude of young entrepreneurs, a large labor force, a wealth of natural resources, and an adaptable infrastructure. These attributes, combined with laws friendly to international trade and investment, will make Ethiopia a formidable ally of the United States, and the Congressional Caucus on Ethiopia and Ethiopian-Americans will help bolster that alliance. |
