Congresswoman Jackson Lee regards health care as one of the most pressing issues facing this country and the world. She has been a staunch supporter of legislation that aims to eliminate health disparities in this country, fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic, combat the childhood obesity crisis facing this nation, and provide health insurance coverage for all Americans. She believes that quality healthcare should be affordable and accessible to all.

Congresswoman Jackson Lee fully understands the urgent need to provide a high-quality, accessible, and affordable health care system for all and is working hard to tackle the problem of the uninsured and the under-insured. There are currently forty-seven million uninsured Americans, nine million of whom are children. Another fifty million are underinsured. Of utmost concern to Congresswoman Jackson Lee, is ensuring that every child in this country have access to adequate health insurance.

She is an original cosponsor of H.R. 676, "The United States National Health Insurance Act." This Act would allow for every American to receive health insurance with a full range of medically necessary services, including primary care, prescription drugs, mental health care, and long term care.
