Goodlatte Announces Subcommittee Ranking Republicans
Lucas, Moran, Hayes, Bonner, Neugebauer & Musgrave Named to Top Spots

WASHINGTON – Today, Ranking Republican Bob Goodlatte named six top Agriculture Committee Republicans to serve as Subcommittee Ranking Members. Veteran Subcommittee Chairmen Frank Lucas, Jerry Moran, and Robin Hayes will hold Ranking Member positions as well as Reps. Jo Bonner, Randy Neugebauer, and Marilyn Musgrave. The Ranking Members, along with the jurisdiction details of each Subcommittee, are listed below.

“All of the Subcommittee Ranking Republicans are strong advocates for American agriculture. Reps. Lucas, Moran and Hayes served well as Subcommittee Chairmen, and I have no doubt they will continue to do so in their capacity as Ranking Republicans. Reps. Bonner, Neugebauer, and Musgrave are seasoned members of the Committee and will continue to be strong voices for agriculture in their leadership roles,” said Ranking Republican Goodlatte.

Rep. Frank Lucas, Oklahoma, will be the Ranking Republican on the Conservation, Credit, Energy, and Research Subcommittee. The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes: soil, water, and resource conservation; small watershed program; energy and biobased energy production; rural electrification; agricultural credit; and agricultural research, education and extension services.

Rep. Jerry Moran, Kansas, will be the Ranking Republican on the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee. The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes: program and markets related to cotton, cottonseed, wheat, feed grains, soybeans, oilseeds, rice, dry beans, peas, and lentils; the Commodity Credit Corporation; crop insurance; and commodity exchanges.

Rep. Robin Hayes, North Carolina, will be the Ranking Republican on the Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Subcommittee. The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes: livestock; dairy; poultry; meat; seafood and seafood products; inspection, marketing, and promotion of such commodities; aquaculture; animal welfare; and grazing.

Rep. Jo Bonner, Alabama, will be the Ranking Republican on the Department Operations, Oversight, Nutrition, and Forestry Subcommittee. The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes: agency oversight, review and analysis; special investigations; food stamps; nutrition and consumer programs; forestry in general; and forest reserves other than those created from the public domain.

Rep. Randy Neugebauer, Texas, will be the Ranking Republican on the Horticulture and Organic Agriculture Subcommittee. The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes: fruits and vegetables; honey and bees; marketing and promotion orders; plant pesticides, quarantine, adulteration of seeds, and insect pests; and organic agriculture.

Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, Colorado, will be the Ranking Republican on the Specialty Crops, Rural Development, and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee. The Subcommittee’s jurisdiction includes: peanuts; sugar; tobacco; marketing orders relating to such commodities; biotechnology; rural development; farm security and family farming matters; foreign agricultural assistance; and trade promotion programs, generally.
