DOCLINE libraries in the Pacific Southwest Region are overwhelmingly moving to the Electronic Funds Transfer System (EFTS) and to reciprocal groups for resource sharing, such as FreeShare. As a result, both the Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona (MLGSCA) and the Northern California and Nevada Medical Library Group (NCNMLG) are planning to end their coupon sales and redemption programs. Although coupons played a very useful role for libraries to share among themselves in the days of paper-based interlibrary loan, they do not work well in today’s electronic based system. (more…)

In September 2007, NLM’s ClinicalTrials.gov launched a new user interface, the first significant change introduced since February 2000. New features include the ability to highlight search terms, more display options, and additional capabilities for viewing studies and search results by topic. Improvements were also made to “Advanced Search” mode and the display by location on the world map. (more…)

DOCLINE now utilizes SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) for communication between NLM and users’ browsers. SSL helps prevent eavesdropping over the network, tampering, and message forgery. This change took place with DOCLINE version 3.2.5 which was released on October 3, 2007. (more…)
