The U.S. Department of Energy is strongly confident in its assessments of future repository safety. However, we are still collecting and analyzing additional information.

Blooming Yucca

The Yucca Mountain Project places a high priority on protecting the environment. This is not only because it is the right thing to do, but we must also comply with a multitude of environmental laws and regulations. Many experienced and dedicated environmental scientists work on the Project to ensure we protect the environment and comply with those laws and regulations.

With our environmental protection programs, we work to eliminate or reduce potential impacts of Project activities to the land, air, water, plants, animals, and cultural resources. Our work involves properly managing environmental matters, complying with laws and regulations, and continually improving our overall environmental protection efforts.
