SUBJECT: Delegation of Authority to the Directors, Bureau of Engraving and Printing and United States Mint, to Appoint Uniformed Guards
1. DELEGATION.
a. Authority is hereby delegated to the Director, Bureau of Engraving and Printing to appoint uniformed guards as special policemen and to make all needful rules and regulations for the protection of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and Bureau of Engraving and Printing Annex, Washington, D.C.
b. Authority is hereby delegated to the Director, United States Mint, to appoint uniformed guards as special policemen and to make all needful rules and regulations for the protection of the United States Mint, Denver, Colorado; United States Bullion Depository, Fort Knox, Kentucky; new United States Mint, Fifth and Arch Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; United States Assay Office, 155 Hermann Street, San Francisco, California; the old United States Mint Building, 88 Fifth Street, San Francisco, California; and the United States Bullion Depository, West Point, New York.
2. BACKGROUND. The authority conferred by this order shall be exercised in accordance with the Act of June 1, 1948, as amended (62 Stat. 281; 40 U.S.C. 318-318c).
3. CANCELLATION. This directive supersedes the following:
a. Treasury Directive 19-02, "Uniformed Guards," dated November 14, 1986; and
b. Paragraphs (2) and (3) of Treasury Order 177-25 (Revision 1), "Delegation of Authority," dated August 8, 1973.
4. AUTHORITY. Treasury Order 101-05, "Supervision of Offices and Bureaus, Delegation of Certain Authority and Order of Succession in the Department of the Treasury."
