FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Mercedes Brugh--P894219 1315 E. Market Street Office of the Secretary Dear Sirs: I am writing about your rules regarding a manufacturers claim that a product is Made in the USA. For years I have heard that Made in the USA doesnt really mean what it says. Paranoid fringe, I thought. But no! Now I read in the papers that not only does Made in the USA actually mean 75% made in the USA, but that the FTC is considering changing the definition of Made in the USA to mean 50% nude in the USA! Thats making false advertising legal. If a product is 75% or 50% made in the USA, then the manufacturer should have the privilege of stating so. But it is lying to say that such a product is Made in the USA. The FTC should not make it legal to lie about where a product is made. Sincerely, Mercedes BrughMercedes Brugh |
