Weems’ Running Layup Saves West Chester In Overtime, 71-70
Dana Weems’ running layup in the lane at the buzzer made a 71-70 winner out of West Chester in overtime Saturday afternoon in a PSAC East showdown with visiting Bloomsburg.
West Chester Men Handle Bloomsburg, 78-57
Kenny St. George led all scorers with 19 points, and Anthony Haley and Kehinde Roberts each contributed 17 and 15, respectively, as West Chester remained unbeaten in league play with a 78-57 victory over an injury-riddled Bloomsburg squad Saturday afternoon in a PSAC East men’s basketball tilt inside Hollinger Field House.

West Chester’s Katie Butler won the high jump event at the Orange and Maroon Invitational to highlight the women’s track effort Saturday afternoon at the non-scoring meet.
Women’s Swimming Comes From Behind To Nip Hopkins
Trailing after the first day of competition, West Chester University’s women’s swimming and diving team came from behind on the final day of the weekend dual meet to edge visiting John’s Hopkins, 184-174 at Graham Natatorium Saturday morning.

Men's Basketball
Ralph Hegamin scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds in an upset over previously unbeaten and No. 21-ranked Mercyhurst on Saturday … Hegs averaged 21 points per game in West Chester’s three games last week … the 6-8 center scored better than 20 points in two of WCU’s three games … he posted 20 points and seven rebounds against Slippery Rock on Sunday … Hegamin also scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a win over Lock Haven during the week … It was his play in the middle that helped West Chester to perhaps the biggest upset within the conference this season on Saturday.

Dana Weems averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds over the weekend as West Chester defeated Slippery Rock on Sunday after falling to Mercyhurst Saturday … Weems registered six assists on the week and two steals as well … the power forward scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Rams’ win over Slippery Rock … Weems scored 12 points and posted 11 rebounds, recording her second double-double of the year … Weems posted three assists in each contest … Weems leads the team with 15.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg on the season.
