LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the state of Nevada Office of Emergency Management (OEM) opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) on Monday July 26 to assist victims of flash floods that struck Clark County earlier in the month.
The center opened Monday at 1 p.m. Beginning Tuesday, July 27, the operating hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a weeks. No appointments are necessary.
The center will be staffed with representatives of federal, state, county and voluntary agencies who will provide information and answer questions about the assistance available to residents of Clark County following the recent flooding.
"A variety of federal, state and voluntary agency programs are available for homeowners, renters and business owners affected by the floods," Michael Lowder, the disaster's federal coordinating officer said. Now is the time to find out about these programs and begin the process of recovering from this terrible disaster."
Flood victims are urged to start the application process by calling toll-free, 1-800-462-9029. Those with hearing or speech impairments may call TTY 1-800-462-7585 to apply.
