Capital Markets Subcommittee to Convene Hearing on Regulation of Government Sponsored Enterprises
WASHINGTON - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (D-PA), Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises, today announced that the Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the regulation of Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs).
"As we begin debates in the 110th Congress on the regulatory reform of GSEs, it is important for the Capital Markets Subcommittee to hear from participants in the financial marketplace that use and rely on the services provided by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Home Loan Banks. Congress could not reach an agreement on these matters during the last session. Nevertheless, the time is more than ripe for a GSE regulatory reform bill," said Chairman Kanjorski.
