HOUSE ADMINISTRATION NAMES FINAL MEMBER TO ELECTIONS TASKFORCE

Immediate Release Contact: Kyle Anderson and J.R. Crump
April 26, 2007 (202) 225-7476 and (202) 226-3355

(Washington, DC) House Administration Committee Chairman Robert A. Brady announced today that has appointed the final member to the ad hoc election panel charged with investigating the contested election in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. The name of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) was recommended by Ranking Member Vernon J. Ehlers (MI-03) in an April 16th letter to the CHA Chair.

The Task Force now consists of: Rep. Charles A. Gonzalez (D-TX), Chair; Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA); and Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Rep. Vern Buchanan (R), who was certified by the state of Florida as the winner in Florida’s 13th Congressional District race in November of 2006, took his seat in Congress on January 4th of this year. Christine Jennings (D), who challenged Buchanan in the race, filed a Notice of Contest with the U.S. House of Representatives on December 20, 2006.
