Working Groups

Small Box Arrow Applied Cost Engineering Team - In the present environment of budgetary constraints and increased scrutiny from Congress and stakeholders, the Department of Energy (DOE) Environmental Management (EM) program has been challenged to reduce and control costs. The Environmental Management (EM) Applied Cost Engineering (ACE) Team was established to promote continuous cost improvements through dissemination of cost engineering tools, methods, techniques, best practices, and lessons learned across the EM complex. The Office of Project Management serves as a champion for this effort.
Small Box Arrow Low-Level Waste Disposal Facility Federal Review Group (LFRG) - On December 19, 1996, the Deputy Assistant Secretaries for Waste Management and Environmental Restoration in the Office of Environmental Management established the Low-Level Waste Disposal Facility Federal Review Group (LFRG) to develop and implement a review process for LLW disposal facility Performance Assessments and Composite Analyses. The LFRG was chartered to provide Environmental Management the information necessary to determine that LLW disposal facilities are designed, constructed, operated, maintained, and closed in a manner that protects the public and environment. The establishment of the LFRG is an important element of DOE's response to Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board 94-2 and meeting the requirements of DOE Order 435.1, Radioactive Waste Management.
