Kanjorski Announces $4.272 Million Grant for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport
WASHINGTON - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) today announced that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport has been awarded a grant for $4.272 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
"The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is a vital part of economic development in Northeastern Pennsylvania. With this grant, the airport will continue its major renovation and continue to become the world-class facility that we envision, attracting service to new destinations and bolstering business at the airport," Congressman Kanjorski said.
The money will be used for the next two phases of the terminal building and for the aircraft parking apron.
Airport Director Barry Centini expressed gratitude to Congressman Kanjorski. "We appreciate the help," Mr. Centini said.
Congressman Kanjorski has been a driving force in obtaining federal money for the airport reconstruction projects, which total more than $67 million.
