Kanjorski Honored As Champion of Credit Unions
WASHINGTON - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) will be honored Saturday with the unveiling of his portrait at the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association's annual convention. The organization commissioned the oil portrait by Dalton artist Helen Crispino.
"I am honored that the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association commissioned this portrait of me. Credit unions exist to serve their members - average American citizens and small businesses. They help new entrepreneurs start their own businesses and offer loans for already existing businesses to expand. They offer young couples the chance to buy their first home and provide help to families for college tuition. The membership in credit unions has grown to 86 million members, which underscores how important these institutions are. I will continue to work to do everything in my power to help credit unions better serve their members," Congressman Kanjorski said.
PCUA President Jim McCormack said the organization commissioned the portrait, for which Congressman Kanjorski sat, as a way to thank and memorialize him for his leadership.
"Congressman Kanjorski has been a strong supporter, leader and friend to credit unions not only in Pennsylvania but throughout the country, and to consumers. He is a great inspiration to credit union leaders, and he serves as a constant reminder as to what our purpose in serving people is. We will display his portrait in the state credit union headquarters in Harrisburg for all to see," Mr. McCormack said.
