Noon: Press conference to formally open the new road at F.E. Walter Dam, Bear Creek Township. This new road is expected to generate an additional $30 million in economic activity in the area because of increased water recreation activities that will now be possible. Congressman Kanjorski will be available to talk about any of the day's events.
DIRECTIONS: From Wilkes-Barre: Take Rt. 115 south to the Bear Creek Dam. Turn right on Bear Creek-White Haven Road. Go about four miles to entrance to F.E.Walter Dam. Turn left on dam access road and follow to road opening site.
From Scranton: Take I-81 south to Bear Creek-Rt. 115 exit. Follow 115 south to Bear Creek Dam. Turn right on Bear Creek-White Haven Road to F.E. Walter Dam entrance. Turn left and follow dam access road to road opening site.
From the Poconos: Take I-80 west to Blakeslee. Take Rt. 115 north to Blakeslee Corners. At traffic light, turn left onto Rt. 940. Follow 940 to F.E.Walter Dam access road. Turn right and follow road to road opening site.
4 p.m.: Pocono Medical Center, 206 East Brown St., Stroudsburg
7 p.m.: Public meeting to discuss Congressman Kanjorski's legislation that would make Cherry Valley a National Wildlife Refuge, Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, Kemmertown Road, Stroudsburg.
DIRECTIONS: From I-80, take exit 307 and turn right onto ramp. Turn left onto Broad Street (SR 191). Bear right onto Cherry Valley Road (SR 191). Keep straight onto SR 191. Turn right from Mountain Road onto Middle Road. Turn right onto Kemmertown Road. Arrive at United Methodist Church.
