Kanjorski Announces $750,000 for Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor
WASHINGTON - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) today announced that the Interior Appropriations bill passed by Congress includes $750,000 for the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor.
"I am pleased that I was able to help secure funding for the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor to ensure that we continue to celebrate the history and culture of our region. The Delaware and Lehigh Rivers opened up the region for the early railroads that fueled the way to the Industrial Revolution. I am pleased that the federal government recognizes the importance of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor as part of our nation's history," Congressman Kanjorski said.
Director C. Allen Sachse said the funding is important to continue the work of the organization.
"It will help continue work along the Delaware and Lehigh Corridor from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol. It will also help support the Market Towns Initiative that focuses on communities including Lansford, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Palmerton and White Haven. It also allows us to continue working with Luzerne County, the City of Wilkes-Barre, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry and other local groups on the revitalization of the Riverfront," Mr. Sachse.
