Kanjorski Announces $320,000 in Highway Bill for Borough of Dunmore

Dunmore, Pa. - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) today announced that the highway and mass transit bill passed by Congress on Friday includes $320,000 for Dunmore for paving projects and traffic light improvements in the Borough's most dangerous intersections.

"I am pleased to have helped secure this funding for Dunmore so that officials can make the important paving and safety enhancements at the Borough's most heavily traveled thoroughfares, Electric Street and West Drinker Street. This is a great example of federal dollars coming back to work right here in the 11th Congressional District to improve the quality of life for the entire community," Congressman Kanjorski said.

Borough Manager Joe Loftus said the much-needed money will be used to pave Electric Street and West Drinker Street, allowing the Borough to finish paving its 51 miles of roadway. Money will also be used for reconfiguration of traffic signals.

"As far as I'm concerned this is really like manna from Heaven," Mr. Loftus said.

The $286.5 billion bill, the Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (TEA-LU), will help improve transportation projects over the next six years.
