DOCLINE Class at HAM-TMC Library

The NN/LM SCR will be offering the class Getting the Best out of DOCLINE at the Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library, Houston, TX on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Attendees will learn how to use the features of DOCLINE effectively. Additional topics include DOCLINE upgrades, reports, Loansome Doc and EFTS.

DOCLINE 3.3 Release

The National Library of Medicine announces the upcoming release of DOCLINE 3.3 currently scheduled for the morning of Sunday, February 10, 2008. We anticipate DOCLINE and Loansome Doc will be unavailable for approximately 2 hours while we release the latest versions of DOCLINE and Loansome Doc.

Highlights of the release include:

1. Added ability for lenders to receive email notification of new Normal, Rush, and/or Urgent Patient Care requests routed to them.

2. Revised the user interface for the requesting and viewing of serial holdings reports.

3. Within DOCLINE institution record, allow libraries to request their library be set “Inactive” during extended staff absence due to vacation or special circumstances. The new feature provides a more efficient mechanism for your Regional Medical Library to review and process Out of Office requests.

EFTS Fee Increase

The lend transaction service fee increase for the Electronic Fund Transfer System (EFTS) is scheduled to take effect on February 1, 2008. We strongly encourage you to upload any completed transaction files prior to that date. All lend transactions uploaded after January 31, 2008 will be assessed at the new 5% fee.

Keep in mind that a 5% charge on a $9.00 transaction is only 45 cents, and a 5% charge on an $11.00 transaction is only 55 cents.

NN/LM SCR Spring Cycle Awards Deadline Draws Near

This is a reminder that the NN/LM SCR Spring Cycle Award applications are due Friday, 1 February 2008.

DOCLINE Hold Request

If you plan on closing for the holidays, and you use DOCLINE, please remember to submit a DOCLINE Hold Request.  The form is located at http://nnlm.gov/rsdd/docline/dochold.html.  Finish all requests by the end of your last day at work to ensure that no requests linger in your account during your holiday.

It is not necessary to post a message to the DOCLINE-L listserv about your closing dates.

NN/LM SCR DOCLINE Class in Houston, Texas

The NN/LM SCR will be offering Getting the Best from DOCLINE 3 at the Houston Academy of Medicine–Texas Medical Center Library on October 10, 8:30am - 12:30pm.

Course Description: Attendees will learn how to use the features of DOCLINE effectively. Instruction will include how to properly input and maintain their institution’s record and serial holdings, search for and request materials, and fill other libraries requests. Additional topics include DOCLINE upgrades, reports, Loansome Doc and EFTS.

Upon successful completion of the class, each participant will receive 4 hours of continuing education credit awarded by the Medical Library Association (MLA).
