Compact Projects

Within each Compact are projects chosen by the country through a rigorous, open process which are targeted at reducing poverty and stimulating economic growth.

Irrigated Agriculture Project

  • Rehabilitates and constructs infrastructure, including new reservoirs, main canals, gravity schemes, pumping stations, and canals;
  • Builds management capacity of local and national water supply entities;
  • Provides technical and rural credit assistance to farmers;
  • Expands the total area under irrigation production;
  • Improves overall efficiency of sourcing and delivery of water to farmers;
  • Helps to ensure sustainable management of improved irrigation infrastructure.

Rural Road Network Rehabilitation

  • Upgrades and rehabilitates roads;and
  • Audits ongoing roads maintenance;
  • Plans for future road maintenance strategically; and
  • Ensures that rural communities have improved access to markets, social services, and to main road network.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Collects quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate the impact of compact projects.

Program Administration and Oversight

Costs include implementing unit’s administrative expenses for procurement, fiscal agents, and audit functions.
