Visible Proofs: Forensic Views of the Body

Visible Proofs: Forensic Views of the Body a new exhibition at the National Library of Medicine, explores the history and science of forensic medicine. Visible Proofs shows how physicians, toxicologists, anthropologists and criminologists have struggled to devise scientific methods that produce reliable knowledge — "visible proofs" that can be used as evidence in inquests and trials. Through the use of objects, graphics, and multimedia presentations, visitors to Visible Proofs will see how changing forensic views of the body, in the laboratory, crime-scene and courts of law — and views of forensic science itself — have changed our world.
