Washington DC’s metro system is best way to get around the city– Please visit their website www.wmata.com to learn more about the system

Due to heavy security you are strongly encouraged not to drive in the city several days before during and after the inauguration.  Many streets will be blocked off and public parking will be extremely limited and very expensive.

Also the closet metro-stations to the U.S. Capitol on the day of the inauguration are below:

·     Union Station on the Red line

·     Federal Center S.W. – on the Orange and   Blue lines

·     Capitol South – on the orange and blue lines

III. Attire for Attending the Inauguration

Please remember that this is an outside event in winter so dress in layers.  Also your clothes should be comfortable, partial clothing – like attending a holiday party in winter.  Also you should also wear very comfortable shoes and be prepared for stand for several hours due to security measures and walk a great deal for most of the day.

If you have mobility issues, please let my office know and we can provide you with information on the appropriate services.
