Hanover Area Student Wins Congressional Arts Contest
WASHINGTON - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) today met with Melissa Minnick, the Congressional Arts Contests winner from the 11th District of Pennsylvania. Melissa is a junior at Hanover Area High School in Hanover Township, and the winning artwork is a pencil drawing entitled "Boo Boo."
"I congratulate Melissa on this honor and commend her art teacher, Mrs. Simasek, for her guidance. Every summer, I look forward to meeting the talented student from my district who garners this special distinction," Congressman Kanjorski said.
The Congressional Arts Contest is open to all local high school students in each congressional district, where they compete in local art competitions. The winner from each district has their artwork displayed for one year in the Cannon House Office Building Tunnel leading to the U.S. Capitol to be viewed by the thousands of visitors who walk through that hallway daily.
